SPACE PROJECT 2088 : PHASE 2

The series Space Project 2088 : Phase 2 depicts scenes of an active and growing space sector that serves to gain insights, knowledge and discoveries into the future of space applications and documents the endeavour of academicians, aerospace institutions, space societies, independent researchers & rocketry enthusiasts to craft a highly independent and skilful nation across the global arena of space and STEM.

The project’s initiative is guided by Wawasan 2020 (Vision 2020), a Malaysian ideal introduced by the fourth and seventh Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad in 1991. Among the nine strategic challenges outlined, the sixth challenge is focused on establishing a scientific and progressive society, a society that is innovative and forward-looking, one that is not only a consumer of technology but also a contributor to the scientific and technological civilisation of the future.

In response to the challenge, the project peers into the esoteric space development propelled by researches and projects like UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), HAB(High Altitude Balloon), CubeSat, CanSat, VLM (Vaporised Liquid Microthrusters) and Rocket systems. These efforts propagate and accelerate the space sector by introducing applications that are cost-efficient, economically viable, communicative & connectivity improvisation, minimal carbon footprint and sustainable for the planet. The project is done in collaboration with PutraSpace of Universiti Putra Malaysia, SpaceIn of USM Space System Lab (USSL),  Dr Cheah Kean How of Heriot-Watt University and Kamarul Zaman of Kedah Rocketry Group.
