We Have Lift Off!

After successfully staging our inaugural event in February 2022, EXPOSURE+ PHOTO 2023 festival was launched on 21 September at Grey Box, GMBB in Kuala Lumpur and stretches over two weekends. Following a similar multi-venue exhibition format in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, our mission continues by expanding the depth and exposure of Malaysia-based photographers, along with brings a varied and fresh international program of project-based photography to local audiences, through an international Open Call for 2023.

The Open Call 2023 for project submissions launched in January, with a new inspiring theme A Different Light. The festival's focus is primarily on photography projects including videos that resonate with our audiences where personal experiences and story-telling come together visually in the form of photographic self-expression.

Co-founded by photographers Steven Lee and Nadirah Zakariya - and supported by Munirah Rohaizan and Kelvin Mah our newest member, EXPOSURE+ PHOTO is an independent and grassroots initiative, operating on a non-profit basis and collaborates with sponsors, partners and supporters.

KELVIN MAH

Kelvin Mah is an independent photographer and videographer. His street photography uses non-traditional composition to tell a visual story. He believes that stories can live anywhere. For Kelvin, creating images is not about documenting a particular time or place. It is about capturing what he can see and the way he feels about the moment itself.

In 2021, Kelvin published his first photo zine titled ‘Spectator”. It is a documentation of candid moments in the lives of people living and working in the city of Kuala Lumpur. He was also selected as one of the eleven Malaysia-based photographers to exhibit at the inaugural Exposure+ Photo 2022 festival.
